Trainees will be expected to contribute to outreach activites aimed at drawing future students into robotics. Our primary focus is mentoring students in Lego League robot competitions, which are a lot of fun! Additional activities may include teaching short courses or modules about robotics for summer outreach programs. These activities are not intended to be onerous, but rather, a fulfilling way to provide service to the community.
2007-2008 Outreach Activities
IGERT Trainee Chris Phipps (along with fellow graduate student Andy Hetrick) mentored the Woods Cross High School Robotics club during their FIRST Robotics Regional Competition. The club had six weeks to turn a kit of parts into a robot ready for competition against other clubs at the regional meet in Las Vegas.
